Thanks, Becs! The treadmill is working okay, but I really can't bear to do much more than 3 miles at a time. Looking forward to following your half training!

I finished the 21 day detox yesterday. I feel good, but I'll be happy to get more carbs in my body now for running and training. I learned a lot and my main takeaway is that I've given up eating sugar. For me this is mostly flavored creamer or sugar in my coffee. I had a cup today with just cream and it tasted good. We could add dairy back today so I also had cheese in my eggs and Greek yogurt with strawberries after running today and a whey protein shake after training last night. No ill effects so I'll be going back to eating these foods. In a couple of days we can add in gluten containing grains. I don't really eat a lot of gluten so I might skip this step and add in oatmeal and quinoa on day 4. What I'm most looking forward to is beans and peanuts on Day 10. I miss beans in my Mexican and peanut butter is just the key to life, isn't it? ;)

Bottom line: In 21 days, I lost 6.2 pounds and reduced my body fat from 30.6% to 28.7% (-1.9%). Many people lost more than I did (one lady lost 19 pounds and her husband lost 20!) but I think they had to make a lot more changes than I did. I don't believe they are clients of GFNH, so they have not been eating the suggested diet.

I ran 3 on the treadmill today, a little faster than I had been. I think just the added dairy made me feel more nourished.

I'm planning to go back to running with my training group on March 1st. I hope it can happen. We got another 10 inches of snow today. It's getting rather ridiculous out there.

Go Mae Lynn! Your race schedule looks like a lot of fun. I hope you can get outside again soon. It has been such a rough winter.

That's a great list of races!

This winter has been awful. I definitely feel your pain. We had another 6 inches on Monday, and we haven't seen the grass since early December. We had a bit of a thaw yesterday leading to ice last night and this morning, and we're expecting another bad one on Thursday. {sigh}

The other day I had a couple slices of wheat bread (breakfast and lunch) and then ran the fastest, easiest 3 miles ever that afternoon on the treadmill. Fuel and diet is so key to running. I think I'm going to talk to the nutritionist who helped me through my bout with anemia. I want to find the fine line between proper fueling and overeating. I gained weight last year and that shouldn't happen.

Yesterday at bootcamp we had a 3 minute knee grab ab (I don't know who this is, but it's how to do them: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=fBn5wU_6yNE) challenge. I did 66. My abs are hurting today!!

My friend and RTB teammate, Jayne, did 125. That is more than ANYONE else, even the guys. She is a machine.

I know what you mean! I went out for a run last Friday, and I'm going out this evening too. I'm so glad spring is finally coming.

So I found another race I want to run. I'm getting as bad as Bonnie! ;)

This one is a new race, called the New England Half, September 28. The starting line is less than 10 miles from my house, and actually runs on the very road I live on toward the end of the race. It goes from the New Hampshire Motor Speedway to the NH State House, point to point. It is the weekend before the Smuttynose Half that I PRed at last year, and three weeks before Detroit (October 19) I was briefly thinking about doing all three, but there is no additional level of Half Fanatics for three in a month, only three in 16 days, so I'm thinking I will skip Smutty and have an extra week before Detroit. The extra recovery time might also help with my goal of doing the Manchester Half in November to wind up the year with four halfs.

ETA: Actually now that I look at it, if I were to do Smutty, Manchester AND this one I could make Saturn level (level 3 of HF) with 4 Halfs in 37 days, and do 5 in a year. Decisions, decisions! I'm at Neptune level now (HF # 6624 here!).
