As I said in a reply to Leah's thread, I finished the 10 mile Broad Street Run this past Sunday. It wasn't pretty; I was massively under-trained, 7.5 miles max in training and about 2.5 of that walking. My running fizzled out at about 6 miles into Broad Street, so I did the Walk/Run thing for the rest of the race. All of mile 7 was walking.

My training got off to a late start this year. But I plan to just keep ramping it up. Maybe in a month or two I'll be to where I should have been for Broad Street. I'll be doing the Sunshine Run in a bit, and hopefully I'll be saying "its just a 5K". My plan is to ramp up to 20+ MPW and stay there so I'll be strong when the Detroit HM comes.

I ran with the meetup group yesterday. Actually it was just 3 of us, Linda, Jonna, and me. For Linda and me, it was a recovery run because we did our LSR Saturday.

I think Linda and I are both pretty serious about getting to the 20+ MPW needed for HM training. We're planning to run again tomorrow morning, shooting for 4 days per week, which we've did last week.

I hope to be trained up for HM well in advance of Detroit, so I can just keep it going, and maybe do a HM or 2 before Detroit.

Hi Tim,

Keep up the great work! I will be looking forward to your race report for the Detroit HM. I have two HMs on my schedule for this year (Space Coast and a Diva a week later), but I'm having trouble getting motivated to training for them. I'll watch your thread for some of that motivation! :)

Well, I seems like this year I'll be making a regress report rather than a progress report. Training has not gone well. I seems like I am getting shorter of breath as I go. This morning 2 miles took all I had. (Well I went 4 miles but 2 of it was walking because I ran out of gas.) No problem with strength; my legs felt fine. After the last couple years it's pretty disappointing to be where I am now. I feel that, if I push myself harder, I'll get to the point where I will just pass out. I wonder if this is my body telling me that my age is catching up with me...
