Starting W5D1 tomorrow!

Post by AimLabaim » Wed Oct 07, 2015 1:12 am

Hi everyone! I am new to these boards, but I have completed 4 weeks of C25K. I am so proud of myself, because I have never considered myself a runner. I love exercise and will be testing for my black belt in Tang Soo Do in April, so I have decided that I like new challenges ;) However, I am feeling a bit intimidated by W5. I'm hoping I can do the 5 minute runs tomorrow by slowing my pace a bit.

I have noticed that my stress levels are much more evened out on the days that I run. I am a mom to 2 middle-schoolers, so life can be crazy!

Anyway, I wanted to jump in here and introduce myself. These boards seem like they are a great source of support! My husband is a runner and he helps me a lot, too.

Welcome aboard! Congrats on finishing the first 4 weeks!!

I definitely use running as a stress reliever - some days I leave work with gritted teeth and a run always seems to make me feel better! One of the many benefits of running!!

W5D1 is in the books! The slower pace made all the difference. Looking forward to 8-minute segments on Friday!

Hi AimLabaim, welcome to the site and congrats on W5D1 :D

I'm a newb too and did same level Tue (got D2 a bit later today). I'm with you and have been going slow too, but what I've seen on the site, is that slow is good for now esp if a little bit off now helps you get the longer runs, esp with the 20 miniter looming at the end of this week  Know what you mean about not being a runner - even at school I could never do track or cross country so it's a real boost that seem to be getting into it this time.

Good luck with rest of week 5 and keep letting us know how you're doing!

Hi Kaz!

It's nice to see someone on here who is at the exact same point that I am :) I will be doing D2 tomorrow morning, then I take the weekend off and I will have D3 on Monday. I am certainly not going to break any speed records, but endurance is what is important to me right now. It is helpful for my black belt training because sparring is so tiring!

I will post about my D2 tomorrow. Can't wait to hear how yours goes today. Have fun!

W5D2 went very well! I ran a slightly faster pace today. It made me feel like I can tackle the 20-minute run with more confidence. I take the weekends off, so that will be on Monday. Have a great weekend everyone!

Way to go AimLabaim - sounds like you're really getting in the groove :D

Just finished the 20 min run today  - won't say it was easy, but I was thinking back and am just amazed at how far have come already, as there's no way could have run for 20 minutes even 2 weeks ago let alone 6 when I started :D

Good luck for yours on Monday - just keep thinking "You Can do this!" :P

W5D3 is complete! I felt great and honestly felt like I could keep going. My pace was 12:37/mi, so I am taking it nice and slow. My next running day would be on Wednesday, but I have to have an outpatient procedure done, and then I have karate belt testing on Thursday. I'll be back at it on Friday for W6D1.

Don't worry PhotoBob...I have a healthy respect for W6! ;)
